Places to Eat in Anchorage, Alaska ↠ Middle Way Cafe

Middle Way Cafe is a cute little spot located here in Anchorage and it was one of the first restaurants Dave wanted to introduce me to once I arrived in Alaska. He had stumbled upon it in the first few weeks of living here and I kept hearing I would love it...he was right.

The cafe is organic, locally sourced, and full of vegetarian options...what more could you want? The inside of the cafe has local art hanging on the walls and is super cute, but we opted to sit outside since it's been in the 70s and sunny. We are soaking up every moment.

I got the "beat burger" and was a little nervous because I've never tried a beet before in my life. It was delicious. It had beets and portabella mushrooms that were roasted in balsamic- topped with spinach, goat cheese, and onion marmalade. Yum.

Dave ordered the "turkey cranberry" sandwich and thought it was wonderful as well. I think this will definitely become one of our favorite spots. I wanted to try just about everything on the menu and that's always a good sign. It's also a good sign when you pick up a coffee mug to add to your collection on your first visit to the place...it was that good.

...next time I think I want to try their breakfast.

Hello again, this time from Alaska!

Friends, I can't tell you all how much I miss writing in this space and how much I just adore all of your sweet comments on all of my pictures while I posted so many of them on Instagram in lieu of writing on here. I'm so thankful for all of you and love having you all along for this crazy ride. If you've never said hello on here before (or even if you have, and maybe it's been awhile), please make sure to do so and introduce yourself!

I'll leave you with the first Alaska pictures from my "good" camera...I hope you enjoy them and I can't wait to share more! We're hoping to move into our place by this weekend, please keep us in your thoughts as we make a decision on a place and that everything goes smoothly.

I'll talk about it a little bit more once I have some time to digest, but the beauty here is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I'm not sure that someone could even capture the essence of this gorgeous state, but I sure am going to try my darndest.

...by the way, the dog in the above pictures is Dave's friend's Alaskan Malamute named Bandit. Is he not the coolest looking dog you ever did see? I love him.

Hello from the road!

Oh how I've missed this space the past few days and all of your lovely comments in my inbox. I am coming at you from Austin, TX...as in my LAST stop on the way to Alaska! I am having a blast on my Texas trip, seeing familiar faces and making friends with new ones, but I am over the moon that this time tomorrow I'll be at the airport headed to be reunited with my love!

Home is with You // Alaska

It's been two months since Dave left me in Kansas to get started in Alaska. This is the longest we've ever been apart since we've met and it was way too long if you ask me. I'm going to be such an anxious wreck tomorrow and I don't know how I'll handle 9 hours in the air, plus airport time, knowing that I get to see his smiling face when it's all over.

Oh and get excited for ten million some Alaska pictures! If you don't already follow Dave and I on Instagram, make sure to do so, if you're as pumped about Alaska pictures as I am. Dave has already posted some gorgeous mountain pictures (like the one above) and mine will be coming Friday. Can. Not. Wait.

Lace top // Wedge shoes.

Can you tell I love these purple pants? Out of all the colored jeans I own, these get the most wear out of them and I'm not even sure why. I just love them and apparently I have a lot of items in my closet that go with them. Whatcha gonna do...

This lace top from Socishop has also quickly become a favorite of mine. It is so comfy, yet it's perfect for a dressier night out. To me, that's what summer wear is all about, comfort with a little bit of class. It's just not ok to force yourself to wear things that are way too tight when you're burning up. Trust me.

And don't you just love the fun summer nail polish (as in my bright pink nails above)? I know you can wear bright colors all year long, but something about the temperature heating up just makes me want to wear the bright/bold colors!

What about you all, what's your favorite summer item? Anyone have a go-to piece in their closet they'd like to share?
